  23. In the days before the transfer command was ftp, kermit was born.

  25. You could, and can, set capabilities separately on each end.

  27. It made sense then to set the required capabilities at the end you
  28. were changing ..

  30. However, I think the new kermits inform each other of such changes
  31. now, and they do the Right Thing.

  33. I hate text mode. It gets in the way. That's one of the reasons I like
  34. ncftp - you know its binary by default.
